After discretizing the domain, the collocation points are placed in the subdomains, as shown in Fig. 7.1.
where N is the number of subdomains within the horizon and Ne is the number of collocation points in eth subdomain.
For each of these cases, the displacement versus time variation of a collocation point, which is located close to the center of the bar, is monitored and compared against the analytical solution given by Rao (2004).
The PD equation of motion yields the acceleration of the collocation points.
The displacement and velocity of collocation points can be obtained by integrating the acceleration; it requires the initial condition values of these quantities.
